This natural rosé from Anders Frederik Steen and is a vibrant, expressive wine crafted in the Ardèche region of France. Made from a blend of Syrah and Viognier grapes sourced from the organic vineyards of Domaine du Mazel in Valvignères, it showcases a deeper, more complex profile than typical rosés. The grapes undergo separate direct pressing over 2-3 days, shorter and faster than the duo’s usual method, with the juices blended soon after. Fermentation and aging occur in old wooden foudres over winter and spring, resting on the lees until bottling in early June.
The result is a deep purple-hued rosé with a rich, aromatic character. Expect lively notes of cherry bonbons, citrus, and spice, accented by a touch of floral and smoky aromas, with a subtle hint of tannins adding structure. Its vibrant acidity and slight volatility make it a bold, "rock’n’roll" natural wine, perfect for aperitifs or pairing with saucisson, cheese, red sauce dishes, roasted white meats, or meaty fish. Best enjoyed chilled in a bar or at the dinner table, this wine is a thoughtful expression of Ardèche’s terroir, crafted with minimal intervention, no fining, filtration, or added sulfites.
