BRASSERIE de la Pigeonnelle Loirette Farmhouse Ale is a refreshing, natural beer crafted by brothers Stéphane and Ludovic Hardouin at their brewery in Céré-la-Ronde, located in the Touraine area of France’s Loire Valley. Brewed with organic barley malt sourced from the region, this Belgian-style saison clocks in at 5.5% ABV. The process is deliberately simple: the beer undergoes fermentation with native yeasts, is left unfiltered and unpasteurized, and is bottle-conditioned, resulting in a light sediment that enhances its stability and rustic charm. Loirette pours a hazy golden hue with a lively, frothy head, releasing aromas of cereal grains, subtle apple and pear esters, and a faint yeasty funk. On the palate, it’s crisp and thirst-quenching, offering a soft malt sweetness, a touch of bitter apricot, and a creamy, lingering finish, all balanced by gentle carbonation. Known as the “beer of natural wine bars,” Loirette has earned a cult following among winemakers and enthusiasts alike, pairing beautifully with light fare like fresh cheeses, seafood, or a sunny afternoon. This farmhouse ale embodies the Hardouins’ love for Belgium’s lighter ales and their deep ties to the Loire’s organic, terroir-driven ethos.
