"Love Rosé" from Broc Cellars is a vibrant, easy-drinking natural wine that embodies the laid-back yet intentional ethos of winemaker Chris Brockway. Crafted from a shifting blend of organically grown grape varieties—often featuring Valdiguié, Carignan, Zinfandel, Grenache Noir, and Barbera, depending on the vintage—this rosé hails from various North Coast vineyards in California, including Mendocino and Solano Counties. The grapes are typically foot-stomped and left on their skins for up to 24 hours (except for Grenache, which undergoes carbonic maceration), then gently pressed and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Aged on lees for four months without sulfur during fermentation, a minimal dose is added at bottling to preserve its freshness. The result is a juicy, coral-hued wine with a nose of fresh-picked strawberries and savory herbs, unfolding on the palate with watermelon agua fresca, dried thyme, and a touch of sea salt. Each variety contributes uniquely—acidity from Valdiguié, spice from Zinfandel, texture from Carignan, herbal notes from Grenache, and salinity from Barbera—creating a refreshing, balanced rosé that’s perfect chilled with casual fare or as an everyday sipper.
