The Château de Coulaine Chinon 2024 is a vibrant, organic red wine from the Chinon appellation in France's Loire Valley, produced by a historic family estate dating back to the 1300s and certified organic since 1997—the first in the region—with 19.5 hectares of vineyards on plateaux and hillsides featuring clay-limestone tuffeau soils, focusing on low yields and selection massale for concentrated, high-quality fruit from vines averaging over 30 years old. Hand-harvested and crafted by winemaker Jean de Bonnaventure in a non-interventionalist style, this vegan-friendly cuvée embodies a pure, approachable expression of Cabernet Franc with a vin de soif character, boasting deep color and harmonious balance between freshness and richness. The nose is expressively floral and complex, offering aromas of violets, red berries, raspberry, dark cherry, pepper, smoked meats, and a touch of spice, with an attractive leafy, herbal edge. On the palate, it delivers silky, velvety texture with flavors of blackberry, cherry, red fruits, floral pastille, and subtle minerals, framed by supple, melting tannins, lively acidity, and lots of energy and concentration for a medium-bodied, thirst-quenching profile with a balanced, persistent finish. Vinified with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats and aged in a mix of old oak barrels and cement tanks without fining or filtering, this low-sulfur, biodynamic-practiced wine at around 13% ABV showcases remarkable purity and approachability
