Château de Roquefort Rosé de Provence 'Corail' is an elegant, organic, and biodynamic rosé from the Côtes de Provence appellation in southern France, crafted at a historic estate nestled between the Sainte Baume massif and the Calanques National Park. Produced from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Clairette, and Vermentino grapes, the wine comes from 30- to 40-year-old vines grown on clay-limestone scree soils at 380-390 meters altitude. The north-northwest exposure and maritime-influenced microclimate ensure freshness, with hand-harvested grapes (late September to early October) yielding around 53 hl/ha. Vinification involves direct pressing, partial destemming, and cold maceration (8-24 hours for Grenache and Cinsault), followed by spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts at 18-23°C and aging in stainless steel and concrete vats for six months on lees. No sulfites are added, aligning with the domaine’s natural winemaking ethos under proprietors Violaine and Cédric Menet, who took over from Raimond de Villeneuve in 2022.The wine displays a luminous, pale coral or apricot hue with a delicate nose of citrus (grapefruit, lemon, cédrat), wild strawberry, white peach, and floral notes like wild rose, accented by subtle spice and fennel. On the palate, it’s fresh, vibrant, and well-balanced, with crisp acidity, a mineral-driven core, and flavors of redcurrant, citrus, and white fruits, finishing with a saline, refreshing length. With a low ABV of 12-12.5%, this gastronomic rosé is versatile, pairing beautifully with appetizers, seafood platters, grilled shrimp, white meats, or Provençal dishes like soupe au pistou. Representing 60% of the domaine’s production, Corail is a quintessential Provençal rosé, combining drinkability with complexity, ideal for summer sipping or year-round enjoyment.
