De Mena Super Singla Muscat '24 is a fragrant, glowing skin-contact orange wine from Sébastien Agelet of Domaine de Mena in the rugged Pyrenean foothills of Paziols, Roussillon (Côtes Catalanes/Fitou), southern France.
“De Mena” means “by nature” in Catalan — exactly Sébastien’s philosophy. He farms organically on old-vine parcels (40+ years) of stony limestone-clay soils high on the terraces of Mont Py, in a wild, time-forgotten corner of the hills that once belonged to the Principality of Catalonia. Biodiversity, minimal intervention, and letting the land speak are the only rules.
Super Singla is a playful homage to the wild boars (“singla” in Catalan) that roam the vineyards. It’s a blend of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and Muscat d’Alexandrie that sees a short 7–10 day skin maceration, indigenous-yeast fermentation, and aging in neutral tanks (stainless or fibre). Zero or minimal sulfur, unfined, unfiltered — pure minimalism.
The result is a bold amber-orange beauty that explodes with heady aromatics: jasmine, honeysuckle, orange blossom, lemongrass, white peach, apricot, lychee, pineapple and a touch of ginger. On the palate it’s dry, vibrant and surprisingly elegant — bright acidity, silky texture, just enough phenolic grip, and a clean, mineral finish that keeps you reaching for the next glass.
