Deux Punx Pinot Gris Rosé is a natural wine crafted by Dan Schaaf and Aaron Olson, the ex-punk duo behind the Napa-based winery Deux Punx. This rosé is made from 100% Pinot Gris grapes, sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards in Northern California—past vintages have highlighted spots like McKenzie-Mueller Vineyard in Los Carneros or organic/biodynamic sites in San Benito County. True to their minimalist approach, it’s produced with native yeast fermentation, minimal sulfur dioxide (SO2), and neutral oak, often with a touch of skin contact that nudges it toward a ramato-style wine—a light, coppery rosé with a hint of orange wine character.
The wine typically pours a pale salmon or glowing cloudy orange, depending on the vintage and skin-contact time (sometimes up to a week). On the nose, it offers fresh strawberries, blood orange, and a whisper of herbaceous spice. The palate is crisp and dry, with flavors of red berries, grapefruit, and occasionally a tropical twist like papaya, backed by a lively acidity and a slightly viscous texture. It’s low in alcohol—often around 10.3% to 11% ABV—and bottled unfined and unfiltered, embracing a subtle natural funk. Each release features a unique label by a collaborating artist and a punk-inspired musical pairing suggestion. Best enjoyed chilled with dishes like salmon or shellfish, it’s a drink-now wine that reflects Deux Punx’s raw, no-fuss philosophy.
