HALLOW WNES Sunset Orange '23

Hollow Wines Sunset Orange '23 is a fresh, approachable, and delightfully textured orange wine from California's Central Coast, specifically the Cienega Valley in San Benito County.

Made by Quinn Hobbs of Hollow Wines, this is a skin-contact Chardonnay that's light on the extraction but big on fun and drinkability. It's 100% Chardonnay from organically farmed vines, hand-harvested, fermented with native yeasts in tank, and given about 7 days of skin contact to pick up that signature gentle amber hue and subtle grip—without going full-on tannic or funky.

In the glass it pours a deep, sunset-inspired orange-amber with bright clarity. The nose is chalky and inviting: bright lemon zest and lemoncello vibes, citrus oil, white peach, nectarine, and a mineral undercurrent that nods to the fault-line terroir. On the palate it's medium-bodied and precise — juicy stone fruit and creamy texture from full malolactic fermentation (that adds plushness and roundness), layered with zesty acidity, subtle leesy richness, gentle silty/grippy tannins from the skins, and a touch of savory spice and orange rind on the finish.
