The J. Mourat Collection Rosé 2024 is a vibrant, dry rosé wine hailing from the Loire Valley in France, specifically the coastal Fiefs Vendéens appellation, where the maritime climate and schist-rich soils impart a unique freshness and minerality. Produced by Domaine J. Mourat under the guidance of winemaker Jérémie Mourat, this wine is crafted from a blend of approximately 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Gamay grapes, sourced from vines averaging 20 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed, and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, followed by 5 months of aging to preserve its crisp character.
With an ABV of 12.5%, it presents a pale salmon-pink hue in the glass, offering aromatic notes of wild strawberries, red currants, citrus zest, fresh herbs, and a subtle sea breeze or rocky spice. On the palate, it's light-bodied yet fleshy, with snappy acidity balancing flavors of crushed cherry, watermelon, red berries, and a steely, saline minerality that evokes the wine's coastal origins. The finish is clean, refreshing, and lingering with herbal echoes, making it an ideal thirst-quencher for warm days. This organically farmed rosé embodies the elegance of Loire Valley wines while highlighting the underrated Fiefs Vendéens terroir.
