J. MOURAT Collection Rouge '22

J. Mourat Collection Rouge '22 is a bright, juicy, and supremely drinkable red from the coastal Fiefs Vendéens Mareuil appellation in France’s southern Loire Valley (Vendée).

Crafted by the Mourat family, this is their flagship “Collection” cuvée — a contemporary, fruit-first blend designed for everyday pleasure while still expressing the unique maritime terroir. It’s made from a harmonious mix of Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Négrette sourced from organically farmed vines aged 15–50 years old, planted on volcanic rhyolite soils kissed by Atlantic sea breezes.

In the glass it shows a vivid ruby hue. The nose is fresh and inviting: red cherry, raspberry, cranberry, a hint of wild thyme, and crushed-stone minerality. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, lively, and pure — layers of tart red fruit, red currant, and a touch of plum, framed by vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and a subtle saline, garrigue-like finish that screams “coastal Loire.”
