Jean-Yves Péron’s I Vicini Moscato is a natural, dry white wine from his négoce project in Piedmont, Italy, crafted with Muscat grapes from Asti’s fine, calcareous-magnesian soils. Part of the “I Vicini” series, it’s made in collaboration with organic growers like Giorgio Barbero. The grapes, hand-harvested at peak ripeness, undergo a two-month skin maceration with foot-treading, followed by spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in neutral oak. Aged for one year in 300-liter barriques without fining, filtration, or added sulfites, this orange wine offers a richly aromatic nose of ripe white fruit, citrus blossom, and musky alpine herbs. On the palate, it’s powerful yet fresh, with tannic structure, vibrant acidity, and flavors of star fruit, tangelo, and wet stone, finishing with a saline, mineral depth. Best suited for gastronomic pairings like grilled seafood or spicy Asian dishes, it’s a bold, textured expression of Muscat, far from its typical sweet profile.
