Jumbo Time Wines "The Gift" is an aromatic and approachable natural orange wine crafted by Los Angeles-based winemakers Omar Koukaz and Jonathan Yadegar, who founded their label in 2020 with a focus on minimal-intervention and sustainable practices. This wine is a blend of Alsatian-inspired grape varieties—typically 80% Riesling, 10% Pinot Blanc, and 10% Gewürztraminer—sourced from the organically farmed Zabala Vineyard in Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco region, with the Gewürztraminer component often coming from McFadden Ranch in Mendocino. The combination reflects the winery’s love for vibrant, fruit-forward wines that bridge the gap between cocktail-like drinkability and vinous depth.
The production process is hands-off yet intentional: hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, including a period of skin contact—usually a few days to a week—to achieve its soft orange hue and subtle texture. It’s aged briefly in stainless steel or neutral vessels, then bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal sulfites (around 20 ppm at bottling), preserving its fresh, natural character. The result is a wine that’s juicy and accessible, designed for casual enjoyment.
In the glass, "The Gift" glows with a hazy, pale orange color. The nose is a fragrant burst of pear nectar, white peach, and citrus blossom, with a spicy kick from the Gewürztraminer adding intrigue. On the palate, it’s dry and crisp, with a light, silky mouthfeel, offering flavors of stone fruit, a hint of honeyed richness, and a zesty, mineral finish. At around 12.15% alcohol, it’s an easy-drinking yet flavorful option, perfect for warm evenings or as a pre-dinner aperitif.
"The Gift" shines alongside light fare like seafood, soft cheeses, or a summer salad, and is best served chilled at 10-12°C to highlight its refreshing profile.
