Le Thio Noots "Un Après-midi d’Été" Rouge 2023 is a captivating natural wine from the Anjou region of the Loire Valley, crafted by Romain Verger and Lucie Faderne under their Le Thio Noots label. Made from 100% Gamay sourced from old vines grown on schist-rich soils, this red reflects the couple’s dedication to organic farming and minimal intervention. The grapes undergo a long, light maceration—sometimes stretching weeks—followed by spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in a mix of fiberglass and neutral vessels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfur, it retains a raw, authentic energy at 12.5% ABV.
This wine pours a translucent ruby, hinting at its delicate yet lively nature. The nose offers an inviting burst of fresh red fruits—think tart cherry, raspberry, and a touch of wild strawberry—laced with subtle floral hints and a whisper of crushed stone minerality.
