"Les Tailles" from Jean-Christophe Garnier is a vibrant and soulful natural red wine that embodies the essence of Anjou in France’s Loire Valley. Crafted by Garnier, a former sommelier turned winemaker, this cuvée is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from organically certified vines aged 5 to 55 years, rooted in the clay-limestone soils around Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay. Hand-harvested and vinified with minimal intervention, the grapes undergo a three-week carbonic maceration with native yeasts, followed by 10 months of aging in concrete or stainless steel tanks. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfites, it pours a translucent ruby hue, revealing a nose of ripe red and black fruits—think cherry, blueberry, and prune—layered with sweet spices and a hint of floral complexity. On the palate, it’s juicy and fluid, with soft, ripe tannins, a velvety texture, and a refreshing acidity that balances its generous fruit profile. A true “vin de soif,” "Les Tailles" shines with charcuterie or a casual apéro, reflecting Garnier’s talent for creating honest, drinkable wines that pulse with life and terroir.
