Le Coste Litrozzo Rosato is a lively, natural rosé wine from the Lazio region of central Italy, crafted by Gianmarco Antonuzzi and Clémentine Bouveron at their biodynamic estate, Le Coste, near the volcanic Lake Bolsena in Gradoli. This wine is part of their "Litrozzo" line, presented in a liter-sized bottle designed for easy, convivial drinking. It’s a field blend of local grapes, typically featuring Procanico (a Trebbiano variant), Aleatico, Sangiovese, and Merlot, grown on iron-rich volcanic soils that lend a distinctive mineral backbone.
Made with minimal intervention, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and a short maceration on the skins—often just a few days—before being pressed off to rest in vats, usually fiberglass or concrete, until bottling in the spring. Unfined, unfiltered, and free of added sulfites, it pours a hazy, vibrant pink, reflecting its raw, unpolished charm. The nose offers a burst of summer berries—think strawberry and cherry—alongside floral hints of dried roses and a subtle citrusy lift, reminiscent of blood orange. On the palate, it’s dry, refreshing, and lightly fizzy, with bright acidity, a touch of yeasty funk, and flavors of tart red fruit and wet stone, finishing crisp and clean.
With an alcohol content around 11-12%, Le Coste Litrozzo Rosato is a quintessential "glou-glou" wine—playful, thirst-quenching, and perfect for sharing with friends over casual fare like pizza, pasta al pomodoro, or a charcuterie spread. It’s a pure, joyful expression of Lazio’s natural wine scene, embodying the hands-on, heartfelt approach of its makers and the rugged beauty of their volcanic terroir. Serve it slightly chilled, and let its lively spirit shine.
