Meinklang Foam Vulkan '24 is a lively pétillant naturel (pet-nat) sparkling wine from the biodynamic Meinklang estate, a family-run farm straddling the Austrian-Hungarian border in the Pannonian region.This 2024 vintage blends indigenous Hungarian grapes—primarily Hárslevelű (around 60%) and Juhfark (40%)—sourced from volcanic basalt soils at the base of the ancient Somló hill, an extinct volcano that imparts distinctive minerality and energy.
Made with minimal intervention—wild fermentation, no filtration, and low or no added sulfites—it pours a slightly hazy pale gold with persistent, fine bubbles.The nose bursts with fresh citrus zest, green apple, ripe pear, white flowers, and subtle herbal notes, underscored by smoky volcanic minerality.On the palate, it's crisp, dry, and refreshing, with zesty acidity, flavors of lemon-lime, orchard fruits, a touch of yeasty funk, and a tart, invigorating finish that begs another sip.
