Monte Rio Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 'Cemetery Road' Alta Mesa 2024 is a bright, crisp white from California's Lodi region (Alta Mesa sub-AVA), crafted by Patrick Cappiello. This low-intervention project sources from old vines to produce vibrant, approachable wines with a nod to classic California styles.The 2024 vintage is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from organically farmed vines over 30 years old on Cemetery Road vineyard. Hand-harvested whole clusters are direct-pressed, with fermentation split evenly between stainless steel (for freshness) and neutral wood (for subtle texture). Native yeasts, no oak influence, minimal sulfur—completely dry, lively acidity, and light alcohol (typically around 12–13% ABV).Pale straw in the glass, it leaps with vivid aromas of citrus zest, green guava, white flowers, and hints of caramelized banana and sedimentary minerality. The palate is crisp and refreshing: juicy lime, grapefruit, and tropical edges balanced by clean, mouthwatering acidity and a stony finish.
