The NIBIRU Tradition Rot NV (also known as Tradition Red) is a vibrant, easy-drinking red wine from the Kamptal region in Niederösterreich, Austria, crafted by the natural wine project Nibiru, run by winemakers Josef Schenter (from a third-generation family estate) and Julia Nather. This non-vintage blend combines fruit from multiple vintages to create a consistent, balanced "pantry wine" style—hand-harvested, organically farmed (with biodynamic practices in play), spontaneously fermented with native yeasts, including whole-cluster elements, and matured in old oak barrels in the family's traditional tunnel cellar. It's unfined, unfiltered, and low-intervention for maximum purity and character.Primarily a blend of Zweigelt and Merlot (with occasional use of 2-4 varieties depending on the lot), it's bottled in a convenient 1-liter format at around 12.5-13% ABV, making it perfect for casual sharing and everyday enjoyment. The wine pours a bright, translucent ruby-red hue with lively vibrancy. On the nose, it bursts with fresh, ripe red and black fruit aromas—cherry, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry—layered with subtle spice, a touch of herbal freshness, earthiness, and sometimes a gentle natural edge. The palate is light to medium-bodied, crunchy, and juicy, with bright acidity for lift, supple yet chewy tannins for structure, and a round, refreshing texture. Flavors of tart red berries, ripe cherry, black fruit, vibrant herbaceous notes, and a punchy mineral snap lead to a clean, invigorating finish that's lively and dangerously gluggable.
