Pulpe Fiction Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie is a zesty, terroir-kissed white from the misty marshes of the Pays Nantais in France's Loire Valley, where the collaborative spirit of Bertrand and Lise Jousset—renowned natural winemakers from the Loire's Montlouis-sur-Loire—and Nicolas Réau of Clos Rougeard unite to craft this playful nod to Quentin Tarantino's cinematic classic. Born from a quest for a truly natural Muscadet that defied convention, this bone-dry gem draws from 60-year-old vines of 100% Melon de Bourgogne, rooted in the schistous, granite-flecked soils of the Sèvre-et-Maine subzone, where Atlantic breezes and tidal influences infuse the fruit with maritime snap and mineral poise.Hand-harvested in pursuit of low-intervention purity, the grapes ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks, resting sur lie (on lees) for 10 months to build subtle texture and freshness without filtration or fining—emerging vegan, uber-natural, and clocking in at a sprightly 12% ABV, a light- to medium-bodied revelation of restraint and vitality. In the glass, it sparkles with a pale straw hue and gentle bead from lees contact. The nose bursts with crisp green apple, zesty orchard fruits, and white peach whispers, laced with flinty minerality, a briny oyster-shell edge, and hints of citrus zest that evoke a sun-dappled Breton coast. On the palate, it's refreshingly electric: layers of tart green apple and lemon pith weave through saline vibrancy and bright, laser-like acidity, with a subtle creamy lees texture and earthy undertone resolving into a clean, sapid finish that lingers like sea spray on the tongue.
