Rémi Pouzin's "Clovis" Côtes du Rhône is a vibrant, fruit-forward red wine from the sun-drenched Visan appellation in the northern reaches of Southern Rhône, France, where biodynamic viticulture thrives amid clay-rich soils and a Mediterranean climate tempered by the mistral winds. Crafted by innovative winemaker Rémi Pouzin of Domaine Dieu-le-Fit—a third-generation grower who branched from his family's organic estate to manage 25 hectares of certified biodynamic vines—this collaborative cuvée draws from Pouzin's own parcels and select organic growers within a 10km radius, blending 50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, and 10% Carignan for a harmonious expression of the region's rustic elegance.Hand- and machine-harvested grapes undergo gentle, minimal-intervention winemaking with indigenous yeasts, followed by fermentation and six months of élevage in concrete and stainless steel tanks—no oak influence—to preserve purity and freshness. At 14% ABV, the result is an approachable, medium-bodied gem with a deep ruby hue.On the nose, it unfurls layers of ripe red cherries, wild berries, and blackberry, laced with subtle sweet spices, garrigue herbs, and hints of pomegranate and smoked cherry, evoking the wild Provençal countryside. The palate dances with generous silkiness and bright concentration: juicy tart cherry and red fruit core balanced by soft, velvety tannins, a whisper of earthiness, and vibrant acidity that leads to a smooth, dry finish brimming with spice-tinged freshness.Effortlessly versatile, "Clovis" shines as an everyday delight alongside grilled sausages, ratatouille, roasted vegetables, or charcuterie, its lively fruit and gentle structure inviting easy conviviality at any table.
