Vigneto Saetti Lambrusco Salamino Rosso Viola is a vibrant, organic sparkling red wine from the Emilia-Romagna region’s Lambrusco dell’Emilia IGT, produced by Luciano Saetti in the hills north of Modena. Made from 100% Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce grapes, sourced from 40- to 50-year-old vines grown on limestone and clay soils, this wine reflects Saetti’s commitment to traditional, low-intervention winemaking. Certified organic since 2007, the 2.8-hectare vineyard is meticulously hand-harvested, and no synthetic fertilizers or chemicals are used. The grapes are destemmed, crushed, and spontaneously fermented in small stainless steel tanks at 21°C with five days of skin maceration. Secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle, initiated by adding fresh grape must, followed by at least six months of lees aging. Each bottle is hand-riddled and disgorged without added sulfites, resulting in a bone-dry, zero-zero wine.Rosso Viola pours a deep ruby red with a rich, persistent perlage. Its bouquet bursts with aromas of violets, red berries (strawberries, cherries, blackberries), mulberries, and tamarind, accented by dried roses, wild herbs, exotic spices, and a subtle meaty note. On the palate, it’s lively yet refined, blending lush, ripe black and red fruit with bright, crunchy acidity and a velvety, frothy texture. A slight tannic bite and hints of sour citrus, ginger, and sweet spice lead to a long, savory finish with a bitter twang of currants and plums. With an ABV of around 11.5%, this complex yet approachable Lambrusco pairs beautifully with pizza, cured meats, strong cheeses, or pork dishes. It’s a testament to Saetti’s dedication to reviving the authentic, evocative character of Lambrusco.
