A fun, vibrant skin-contact orange wine from Subject to Change Wine Co., founded in 2017 by Alex Pomerantz in the Oakland area. The “All Hours” line is the more approachable, blended tier of their range — creative cuvées designed for everyday drinking and versatility, as opposed to their single-vineyard flagship wines.
This 2023 vintage is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Chenin Blanc, 10% Viognier, 10% Vermentino, and 5% Roussanne, sourced from responsibly farmed vineyards across Northern California (primarily Mendocino County). The grapes underwent skin-contact fermentation with indigenous yeasts, then the wine was aged and bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero added sulfites.
In the glass it shows a pretty light amber-gold with a warm copper tint. The nose is aromatic and fresh — dried apricot, tangerine, white flowers, and a touch of chamomile. On the palate it’s dry and medium-bodied with lively acidity, soft tannin, and a pleasant stone-fruit core that finishes clean with a slightly bitter citrus edge. Approachable and textured without being heavy or overly tannic.
