Hailing from the sun-drenched Curicó Valley in Chile’s Central Valley, Viña Echeverría’s No Es Pituko Cabernet Sauvignon is a raw, unfussy natural red that lives up to its name—“It’s Not Fancy” in Chilean slang—delivering pure, unadulterated terroir with a rebellious edge. Rooted in a family legacy that began with Basque immigrants planting vines near Santiago in the 1750s, the Echeverría estate was formalized in 1923 in Molina, where alluvial clay-loam soils, enriched with granitic sand and quartz, thrive under Pacific breezes and Andean influence. Now led by fourth-generation winemaker Roberto Echeverría, the estate embraces organic farming on pre-phylloxera rootstock, prioritizing sustainability. For this No Es Pituko expression, hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon from mineral-rich, well-drained plots undergoes wild-yeast fermentation in stainless steel with minimal intervention—no fining, no filtering, and zero added sulfites—yielding a hazy, vibrant red at 13% ABV that captures Curicó’s bold yet balanced character.Deep ruby with a cloudy, unpolished sheen in the glass, it unleashes a lively nose of blackberry, cassis, and tart red cherry, woven with green bell pepper, crushed herbs, and a dusty mineral streak that nods to the valley’s quartz-laden soils.
